Fonts, Fonts & Free Fonts!

Some of you know that I love working with fonts in Silhouette Studio – -and embroidery too!   My Craftsy class is all about Machine Embroidered Monograms — so all about fonts!   This class launched in January of this year – -and I’m pleased to say that over 1400 people have enrolled!  This class includes a free download of a beautiful Laura Worthington font — Adorn — for embroidery!  The embroidery font alone is worth the price of the class!  If you are an embroiderer — check it out!   (As an added bonus — if you purchase from my affiliate link here — its 50% off!)

OK — so on to more Free Fonts!  I absolutely love Kimberly Geswein fonts!  She is a font designer that contributes many free fonts on DaFont.com.    There are actually 282 free fonts that Kimberly has posted on DaFont.com — that you can download free for personal use!  (One of my favorites was even used for my TJC logo!  Its KG Strawberry Limeade!)

If you aren’t familiar with DaFont.comyou should be!  This is a site where you can download literally thousands of fonts for use with Silhouette Studio — for free!   If you need a little help with installing fonts for Silhouette — I have a little YouTube video that I recorded last year — you might find it helpful!  Also, Kimberly has a tutorial on installing her fonts, too!

Once these fonts are downloaded & installed onto your computer — re-open Silhouette Studio for them to show up in your font window.  If you are working on a MAC, you simply click on the download — and when the window opens, you click on “Install Font” — done!

But, in addition to free fonts from DaFont.com – I have discovered a fabulous website from Miss Kimberly!  She has all kinds of incredible resources on her site for Silhouette users — Tutorials, Free Cut Files & my favorite — a 10 page pdf Font Pairing Guide you can download!

So, click on the above picture to visit Kimberly’s website!  Take advantage of the tutorials, free files & printables — not to mention fonts — that she offers there!   You can also see where her fonts are used in commercial products like Skittles, French’s Dipping Sauce & more!  (This has absolutely nothing to do with Silhouette or embroidery — but fun to see! )

Fonts are so much fun to work with & create a mood and impression in your designs!  Text is a powerful way to convey your feelings & thoughts!  So, grab a few of KG fonts & start creating!    Post your pictures on my Facebook page — I love to see them!

And – don’t forget to use my 50% off affiliate link for my Machine Embroidered Monograms Class – -and download the beautiful Laura Worthington Adorn!

Until next time — Hugs, Terri
