I often see questions about Personal License vs. Commercial License — What does that mean? Can I sell items that I make with my Silhouette and files that I’ve downloaded? I am in no way an expert on Copyrights or Licensing – but I feels its very important to be careful about using things that you download from the internet & using it to sell things. I often download things from places that state Personal Use Only — so to me, that’s clear I can’t use it in business -whether free or I’m giving it away here on the blog or in class. So, I love it when I find items that state clearly “Commercial License Included”. So, I wanted to share some of that with you today!
The Hungry Jpeg is one of those sites where you can download lots & lots of things that are FREE – even for Commercial Use! There are fonts, (even the fancy, swirly ones) graphics, mock ups & lots of other great items that are perfect for crafting with your Silhouette — whether for personal or commercial use! Here are a few examples of things that are free for Commercial Use.
There are tons more – but I just wanted to share these with you! Now, while everything in the Monthly Bundles come with a Commercial License, not every Freebie does. But, its clearly marked & indicated — so just be sure to check. There are also tons of Free Mock Ups — and Fonts for just $1.00! I made the following Mock up with the Longshine Script for just $1.00. (If you tweet about your purchase, you can get a discount!) And if you want to know how to do this – -check out “Cutting For Business” post today! Its a great tutorial on how to create free mock ups! Christine has tons of great tutorials for operating a Silhouette business — If you don’t follow her — you should! And she is going to be presenting, once again, at our All Things Silhouette Conference in April & November!! These will be held in Peachtree City, GA — just outside Atlanta!
Also, if you love those “fancy fonts”, but don’t want to deal with working in other programs to access all of the glyphs & alternate characters — They have created a new “Crafters” Category — where you can purchase all types of fonts that are accessible to all & you don’t have to work with them in additional software. These are for sale – but are reasonable. This one is just $1.
Many other files are available in the Crafters Section for a reasonable fee! You will potentially make the cost back in your first sale! This one is just $5! It has so many potential applications!
In addition to all of this! TheHungryJpeg has a Monthly Bundle that is an incredible value!!! Each month, for only $29 – you get a tremendous value! Packed full of more than 32 fonts (and a whopping seven bonus fonts!) as well as 20 graphics packs, here is what is in the February Bundle — all with Commercial Use included! (And again, if you share a Tweet – you get 10% off of your purchase!)
So, as you can see — I think this is an awesome site – and a great value for Silhouette folks! And to make things even better – they are a sponsor for the All Things Silhouette Conference! If you are attending, you will be receiving an email soon about downloading the FREE FONT that they are providing for the Conference & our contests! So head on over today & download your Freebies! Whether or not you are selling — this is a great, trusted site!
Hope you are all staying warm – -I’m headed out to scrape the snow off of my car — so I can get my hair cut! I have my priorities!!!
Until next time —

I purchased my first font from Hungrey jpeg and have a question. The download comes with 5 choices. Open type, Svg, true type , EOT and WWOT.. I am not sure what these are or which ones I want for my Cameo. There is so much to learn!!! Thanks for you help
Jacque — If a ttf (True type font) is available – that’s what I always select!
This answered so many questions!
Great, Amanda — Glad it was helpful!
I’m so excited to explore your blog and learn how to use my Cameo for more than just stickers!
Great, April! And yes — while Print & Cut stickers are awesome on the Silhouette — there is so much more!
I think I read someplace if you download in otf you get some extra designs like tails and swirls. not sure if thats for macs only though.
No, the extra glyphs & swirls sometimes found in fonts are not just for MAC. However, the font has to be created that way. Here is a new, free – online tool that allows you to view all of the “extras”. Kay Hall has a nice tutorial on how to use this tool — check it out! http://cleversomeday.com/font-inspector/
